What is a UI Design Retainer? How does it work?
A retainer is a flexible way to have a dedicated UI designer on your team without the cost and long-term commitment of a full-time hire. You pay a fixed monthly, quarterly, or annual fee, which guarantees you a set amount of dedicated design time and deliverables, ensuring your product's visual strategy is always in motion.
Is this a full-time designer for my company?
No. While our focus is fully dedicated to your projects during your retainer period, this is not a full-time employment agreement. The retainer secures my time and capacity for your projects, and you will work with me and my small team (if applicable) to complete all deliverables as outlined in your chosen tier.
What types of projects are a good fit for this retainer model?
My retainer is ideal for early-stage startups that need continuous UI support for a product, whether it's building a new MVP, revamping an existing product, scaling with a design system, or creating consistent marketing visuals.
Pricing & Payment
How do you handle payments from international clients?
As a Pakistani business, we use professional invoicing software for billing. For international clients, we recommend and accept payments via services like Wise or Payoneer, which offer fast, secure, and cost-effective international transfers. We are also in the process of finalizing local payment gateway integrations for future use.
Do you offer a free trial?
We do not offer a free trial. However, you can book a free 15-minute UI Audit to get a taste of our strategic approach and expertise. The Monthly retainer tier also provides a flexible, low-commitment way to test our partnership.
What's the benefit of paying quarterly or annually upfront?
The quarterly and annual tiers offer a significant discount on the monthly rate. This rewards you for a longer commitment and provides us with predictable revenue, which in turn allows us to better dedicate our capacity and resources to your long-term success.
Process & Communication
How do we communicate and share project details?
We'll set up a dedicated Slack channel for daily communication and quick questions. We use a project management tool (e.g., Trello, Asana, or a similar tool) to manage task queues, priorities, and project statuses transparently.
What is the typical turnaround time for a design request?
Turnaround time depends on the complexity of the request. Simple tasks like a social media graphic may be completed in 1-2 days, while a full UI screen or a more complex feature may take 3-5 days. We will provide a timeline for each task in our project management tool.
What about revisions and feedback?
Revisions are a standard part of the design process. I work iteratively with you, ensuring you have opportunities to provide feedback. The number of revision rounds per deliverable is typically discussed and agreed upon at the start of each task.
How do the weekly catch-up calls work?
We schedule a brief 15-minute call each week to review progress, discuss upcoming priorities, and align on goals for the week ahead. This keeps our partnership fluid and efficient.
Deliverables & Scope
Is there a limit on design requests each month?
Yes. Each tier has a specific scope to ensure quality and timely delivery. The Monthly tier, for example, is for up to 7 UI screens. The Annual tier, however, offers an "unlimited screens" benefit within a reasonable monthly capacity, meaning you can send us a continuous stream of design tasks.
What if a project requires a larger scope than my tier allows?
If your needs grow, we can discuss upgrading you to a higher tier. The quarterly and annual plans are designed to handle larger projects and provide greater capacity.
What kind of work is NOT included in my retainer?
The retainer covers UI/UX design, branding, and visual marketing assets as specified in each tier. It does NOT include front-end or back-end development, video production (other than short UI-focused clips), copywriting, or other services outside the scope of visual design
Ownership & Confidentiality
Who owns the design files?
Upon full and final payment for your chosen tier, you own the rights to the final, approved deliverables. We retain the rights to preliminary concepts, unused designs, and any of our internal tools or methodologies. This is detailed in our Ownership Statement.
Is my product information and intellectual property kept confidential?
Absolutely. Client confidentiality is paramount. We are happy to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before any sensitive information is shared.
Cancellation & Refunds
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, you can. The Monthly tier can be canceled with 15 days' written notice before the next billing cycle. The Quarterly and Annual tiers are commitments for a pre-paid period. You can choose not to renew, but refunds are not issued for the current pre-paid period.
Do you offer refunds?
No refunds are issued for work already completed or for pre-paid retainers. Our tiered model is based on a commitment that secures our dedicated capacity for a given period. This is detailed in our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
